The Antidiskriminierungsverband Deutschland (advd) is a nationwide umbrella organization of independent counseling centers. Our member organizations have many years of experience supporting people who experience discrimination. Our work is guided by common professional standards as well as the legal framework of the General Equal Treatment Act (AGG), Germany’s central anti-discrimination law.
The AGG covers, among other things, the workplace and access to goods and services.
Our directory of counseling centers lists civil society anti-discrimination counseling centers throughout Germany. They offer independent, impartial, and free counseling and support those affected by everyday discrimination, institutional disadvantage, and legal issues.
We connect our members and other counseling centers nationwide and represent their expertise in political and social debates. The goal is to improve protection against discrimination. To achieve this, in addition to reforming the AGG, we need, above all, more counseling services for those affected by discrimination.
We develop professional standards and offer continuing education for counselors as well as professionals in administration, education, and civil society.
We provide secure tools for counseling that can be used to document discrimination. This helps reveal trends and structural patterns.
Our publications compile insights from counseling practice and support professionals in their work. Our evaluation reports highlight discrimination and needs.
